BSNL Router Login

192.168.1.1

India Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, Syrotech

BSNL Bharat Fiber uses ONTs from many vendors, so the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 but the password varies by manufacturer. State-owned BSNL reaches rural areas private ISPs do not. This guide covers login, default passwords, and Wi-Fi setup across the ONT fleet.

How to Login to Your BSNL Bharat Fiber Router

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), established by the Government of India on 1 October 2000, runs the country’s widest fixed-line and fibre footprint, including rural areas where private operators do not reach. BSNL serves about 4.3 million fixed-broadband users on its Bharat Fiber FTTH service. To open the router admin panel, connect to the BSNL network and type 192.168.1.1 in your browser.

This is the standard default gateway across the Bharat Fiber ONT fleet, though a few older units answer at 192.168.1.254. The complication with BSNL is not the address but the hardware: BSNL procures ONTs through open tenders, so the unit in your home could be made by any of seven or more vendors.

Enter admin and admin at the login prompt on units that keep the factory default. Because the fleet is mixed, the password is the part that varies most. Huawei ONTs often pair admin with a label-printed password, and some ZTE units expose a separate administrator account beyond the standard one. The BSNL router brand page holds the full credential matrix for the Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, Syrotech, Genexis, Skyworth, and Netlink units BSNL deploys.

BSNL provides the Selfcare portal and app for billing and basic connection management. For Wi-Fi name and password changes the web panel at 192.168.1.1 is the reliable surface, since the app’s controls depend on the ONT vendor.

BSNL Bharat Fiber ONT Models and Default Settings

BSNL’s tendered fleet means the defaults depend on which manufacturer supplied your exchange. The table covers the most common units.

ONT VendorDefault IPUsernamePasswordNotes
Huawei (e.g. HG8145)192.168.1.1adminon label or adminCommon Bharat Fiber unit
ZTE192.168.1.1adminadmin or special accountSome areas use an administrator login
Nokia GPON ONT192.168.1.1adminon labelSee Nokia router guide
Syrotech192.168.1.1adminadmin or on labelValue-tier installs

The full per-vendor credential list, including the Genexis, Skyworth, and Netlink units, lives on the BSNL router brand page. Match the brand printed on your ONT before you try a password, because the wrong vendor’s default will simply fail.

Changing Your BSNL Bharat Fiber Wi-Fi Password

Replace the default credential if your ONT still uses admin, since the factory value is public.

Log in at 192.168.1.1. Open WLAN, Wireless, or Network depending on the vendor menu. Select the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network on dual-band units.

Change the SSID and the Password field. Use at least 12 characters. Click Apply or Submit, then reconnect your devices.

Menu names differ across the fleet, so our Wi-Fi password change guide maps the common router brands. The Wi-Fi basics page covers the band difference if you are unsure which network to edit.

Using Your Own Router with BSNL Bharat Fiber

BSNL supports a personal router behind the supplied ONT, using PPPoE.

Steps to connect your own router:

  1. Ask BSNL support to set the ONT to bridge mode.
  2. Set your router’s WAN connection type to PPPoE and enter your BSNL broadband username and password.
  3. Change your router’s LAN subnet away from 192.168.1.x, for example to 192.168.50.x.
  4. Disable Wi-Fi on the BSNL ONT through 192.168.1.1 so the two radios do not overlap.
  5. Restart both devices.

Troubleshooting BSNL Bharat Fiber Router Issues

These are the common BSNL router problems and fixes.

  1. Login page does not load. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix, and try 192.168.1.254 on older units. Confirm you are on the BSNL network. See router login not working.
  2. Password rejected. The fleet is mixed, so the default depends on the ONT brand. Check the brand and its entry on the BSNL router brand page, then reset the router only as a last resort.
  3. Connected but no internet. Power cycle the ONT for 30 seconds and check the fibre cable at the wall terminal. Report persistent faults through the BSNL Selfcare app or the local exchange.
  4. Slow speeds in rural areas. Bharat Fiber performs closer to its rated speed than BSNL mobile. Test over Ethernet to separate the line from the Wi-Fi radio.
  5. Red light on the ONT. A solid red or LOS light signals a fibre fault. Inspect the cable without bending it and report it to the exchange.

BSNL operates alongside JioFiber and Airtel Xstream, and reaches areas they do not. Compare them in our Airtel vs BSNL and BSNL vs Jio guides, or see the full India ISP router login guides.

Test your BSNL connection

After logging into your router, run a speed test to confirm BSNL is delivering the throughput your plan promises. The widget below uses M-Lab's open NDT7 protocol — see the full speed test page for details on how the measurement works.
