Excitel Router Login
192.168.1.1
Excitel is a low-cost fibre provider that supplies GPON ONT routers defaulting to 192.168.1.1. Because Excitel uses IPoE rather than PPPoE on most plans, the login and own-router setup are simpler than on many Indian ISPs. This guide covers both.
How to Login to Your Excitel Router
Excitel, founded in 2015, runs a low-cost fibre network serving about one million subscribers with plans up to 400 Mbps. To open the Excitel router admin panel, connect to the network by Wi-Fi or a LAN cable and type 192.168.1.1 in your browser.
This is the standard default gateway for Excitel’s GPON hardware. One difference from many Indian ISPs matters for setup: Excitel authenticates most connections by IPoE rather than PPPoE, so there is no broadband username and password to enter. The line is recognised automatically once the ONT is linked.
At the login page, enter admin as the username and admin as the password on units that keep the factory default. Excitel commonly supplies Syrotech ONTs, some of which use a label-printed password or a separate user account with limited rights. Read the sticker under the device before resetting.
Excitel provides an app for billing and connection management. It changes the Wi-Fi name and password without the web panel, which is the faster path for routine credential updates. The panel at 192.168.1.1 remains the place for port forwarding and DHCP.
Excitel Router Models and Default Settings
Excitel installs GPON ONTs from a few vendors. The defaults below cover the units most subscribers receive.
| Router Vendor | Default IP | Username | Password | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Syrotech ONT | 192.168.1.1 | admin | admin or on label | Most common unit |
| Nokia ONT | 192.168.1.1 | admin | on label | See Nokia router guide |
| TP-Link | 192.168.1.1 | admin | admin or on label | See TP-Link router guide |
The Syrotech ONT is the unit Excitel installs most often. It combines the fibre terminal and Wi-Fi router in one box. The single-band models on entry plans cover a small flat; the dual-band units on faster tiers handle 5 GHz devices and larger homes better.
Changing Your Excitel Wi-Fi Password
Change the default credential if your ONT still uses admin, since the factory value is public. The steps are quick.
Log in at 192.168.1.1. Open WLAN or Wi-Fi Settings. Select the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network to edit.
Update the SSID and the Password field. Use at least 12 characters and avoid personal numbers. Click Apply, then reconnect your devices.
The Excitel app makes the same change from a phone. Our Wi-Fi password change guide lists the menu names on other router brands.
Using Your Own Router with Excitel
Excitel’s IPoE setup makes a personal router simple, with no PPPoE credentials to copy.
Steps to connect your own router:
- Connect your router’s WAN port to a LAN port on the Excitel ONT with an Ethernet cable.
- Set your router’s WAN connection type to DHCP. No broadband username or password is required.
- Change your router’s LAN subnet to something other than 192.168.1.x, for example 192.168.30.x, to avoid IP address conflicts.
- Disable Wi-Fi on the Excitel ONT through 192.168.1.1 to stop the two radios overlapping.
- Restart both devices.

Troubleshooting Excitel Router Issues
These are the common Excitel router problems and fixes.
- Login page does not load. Type http://192.168.1.1 with the prefix and confirm you are on the Excitel network. See router login not working for the full check.
- Password rejected. Syrotech units often use a label password or a user account rather than admin. Read the sticker, then reset the router only if that fails.
- Connected but no internet. Because Excitel uses IPoE, a stuck session usually clears with a power cycle. Unplug the ONT for 30 seconds and check the fibre cable at the wall.
- Slow Wi-Fi. Test over Ethernet first. If wired speed matches your plan, the ONT radio is the limit; use 5 GHz on dual-band units or add a mesh node.
- Red light on the ONT. A solid red light signals a fibre fault. Inspect the cable without bending it and report it to Excitel support.
Excitel competes with JioFiber, Airtel Xstream, and ACT Fibernet on price and speed. For the full provider list, see our India ISP router login guides.
Test your Excitel connection
After logging into your router, run a speed test to confirm Excitel is delivering the throughput your plan promises. The widget below uses M-Lab's open NDT7 protocol — see the full speed test page for details on how the measurement works.
Excitel Router FAQ
What is the default IP address for an Excitel router?
Excitel GPON routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway. Connect to the Excitel network and type the address in a browser to reach the admin panel.
What is the default username and password for an Excitel router?
The factory default is commonly admin and admin on Excitel-supplied ONTs. Some Syrotech units use admin with a password printed on the label, or user and user for the limited account. Check the sticker on the device.
How do I change my Excitel Wi-Fi password?
Log in at 192.168.1.1, open the WLAN or Wi-Fi section, edit the password field, and apply. The Excitel app can also change the Wi-Fi name and password without opening the router panel.
Does Excitel use PPPoE or DHCP?
Excitel uses IPoE on most plans, so the connection authenticates by your line rather than a PPPoE username and password. This makes adding your own router straightforward, since no broadband credentials are needed.
Can I use my own router with Excitel?
Yes. Because Excitel runs IPoE, connect your router's WAN port to the ONT LAN port, set the WAN to DHCP, and the connection works without PPPoE credentials. Use a LAN subnet other than 192.168.1.x to avoid conflicts.
