jiocentrum.home

Jiocentrum Home Gateway is Reliance Jio's in-house ONT-router. The web admin panel sits at 192.168.29.1. Default username is admin and the default password is Jiocentrum (capital J). Newer units force a password change on first login, and the JioHome app is the official fallback when the web password no longer works.

Jio

The Jiocentrum Home Gateway is Reliance Jio’s in-house ONT and Wi-Fi router rolled into a single box. Every JioFiber subscriber in India receives one as part of the installation, and the device sits between the fiber line at the wall and the Wi-Fi clients in the home. The web admin panel lives at 192.168.29.1, not at a memorable branded URL. The factory username is admin and the factory password is Jiocentrum, with a capital J, on the older JMR815 and most JMR1140 units. The Wi-Fi 6 Gateway shipped from 2024 onwards uses a per-device password printed on the back label and forces a password change on first login. The JioHome app is the official fallback when the web credentials no longer work.

How to Login to the Jiocentrum Home Gateway

Connect your phone or laptop to the JioFiber Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password are printed on a sticker on the bottom of the gateway. A wired Ethernet cable into a LAN port works too and is more reliable when the Wi-Fi password has been changed.

Open a browser. In the address bar (not the search bar) type http://192.168.29.1 and press Enter. The leading http:// is important because the Jio admin panel does not serve HTTPS, and browsers that auto-upgrade insecure URLs will block the page.

The Jio Centrum Home Gateway login screen appears. Enter the credentials:

  • Username: admin (lowercase)
  • Password: Jiocentrum (capital J, no spaces)

Click Login. On older firmware this drops you straight into the dashboard. On newer firmware, the panel immediately prompts for a new admin password and a new guest password. Both have to meet Jio’s policy: minimum 8 characters, at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one digit, and one special character (!, @, #, $ all work).

Once past the first-login wall, the dashboard shows the connection status, the public IPv4 assigned by Jio, the Wi-Fi networks broadcasting, and a list of connected devices.

Default Credentials by Jio Router Model

The Jiocentrum brand covers four hardware generations plus a Nokia overflow unit. Defaults vary by model:

The JMR815 is the oldest unit still active in the field, originally shipped from 2018 onwards. JMR1140 followed with dual-band 802.11ac and is the most common unit in homes today. The Wi-Fi 6 Gateway arrived in 2024 with WPA3 support, 6 internal antennas, and per-device default passwords.

If the table values do not work, someone changed the password. A factory reset is the only recovery path. Hold the pinhole reset button on the back of the gateway for 15 seconds while the unit is powered on. The LEDs cycle and the unit reboots with the factory defaults restored. All custom Wi-Fi names, passwords, port forwards, and DHCP reservations are wiped in the process.

Why Jio Uses the Name Jiocentrum

Reliance Jio designed its first-generation ONT-router in-house and called the firmware platform Jiocentrum. The model-line name leaked into the default password because the original product team picked the firmware string as the factory credential. Within a year the password was indexed by every Indian forum and YouTube tutorial, so Jio added a forced-rotation policy on first login. The current Wi-Fi 6 Gateway no longer ships with Jiocentrum at all; the per-device password on the label is the only factory value that works.

The Jio Centrum Home Gateway is a combined ONT and router. The fiber line from the street ends inside the unit, the GPON transceiver decodes the optical signal, and the integrated router serves it to LAN ports and Wi-Fi clients. Most other ISPs split this into two boxes. Jio’s all-in-one design is why the LAN gateway address is fixed at 192.168.29.1 across the entire subscriber base instead of being configurable per installation.

Using the JioHome App as a Fallback

JioHome is Reliance’s dedicated router management app for the Jio Centrum Home Gateway. The app uses your JioFiber-registered mobile number for authentication, so it does not depend on knowing the web admin password.

Install JioHome from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Open the app and enter your JioFiber-registered mobile number. Jio sends a one-time password by SMS. After verification, the app lists every gateway linked to your account.

Select the gateway you want to manage. The app surface mirrors the web panel for the common tasks: Wi-Fi password change, SSID rename, guest network setup, parental controls, connected device management, and a “set new web admin password” option that lets you reset the web credentials without a factory reset. This last feature is the reason JioHome is the recommended fallback when the web password is lost.

The MyJio app (the broader Reliance account app) used to handle some of these tasks but Jio split router controls into JioHome to keep the two surfaces clean. Install both: MyJio for plan and billing, JioHome for the router.

For port forwarding, DHCP reservation, firewall rules, and advanced QoS, the web panel at 192.168.29.1 is still the only surface. The app covers everything a household needs day to day.

Troubleshooting Jiocentrum Login Issues

Password Jiocentrum is rejected. Three things to check. First, the capital J. The string is Jiocentrum, not jiocentrum. Second, the router may have the per-device password from a 2024+ shipment, printed on the back label. Third, the credentials may have been changed by a previous user or by the original installer. A factory reset is the only fix for case three. See the router-login-not-working guide for the full decision tree.

Page loads but login button does nothing. Browser extension is blocking the form submit. Disable ad blockers and privacy extensions for the .29.1 origin, or open the page in an incognito window with no extensions active.

First-login password change keeps failing. The new password has to pass Jio’s policy. Minimum 8 characters, at least one uppercase, one lowercase, one digit, and one special character. The space character is not allowed. Avoid the old default password (Jiocentrum) and avoid your mobile number.

Forgot the password I set and the label password also fails. Factory reset is the path. Hold the pinhole reset button for 15 seconds. On the Wi-Fi 6 Gateway, the restored password is the label-printed value, not Jiocentrum.

Web panel is slow or unresponsive after login. The Jio Centrum Home Gateway runs a lightweight web server with limited resources. If many devices are streaming or downloading, the admin panel response time degrades. Run the admin session from a wired Ethernet client for faster panel response, or use the JioHome app for everyday tasks.

JioHome app does not detect the gateway. Make sure your phone is on the JioFiber Wi-Fi when you open the app for the first time. The app discovers the gateway through local network broadcasts, which fail if you are on mobile data or a different Wi-Fi. Once the gateway is linked to your account, remote management works over the internet from any network.

jiocentrum.home FAQ

What is the username and password for the Jiocentrum Home Gateway?

The factory username is admin and the factory password is Jiocentrum, with a capital J. This works on the Jio Centrum Home Gateway models JMR815 and most JMR1140 units. The Wi-Fi 6 Gateway shipped from 2024 onwards uses a per-device password printed on the back label instead, and the first login forces a password change.

What is the default IP for the Jiocentrum Home Gateway?

The default LAN gateway IP for every Jiocentrum Home Gateway is 192.168.29.1. Type http://192.168.29.1 into a browser while connected to the JioFiber Wi-Fi and the login page loads. The .29.1 subnet is Jio-exclusive, chosen so the gateway address does not collide with retail routers that customers plug in downstream.

Why is the Jiocentrum login asking me to change the password?

Jio firmware shipped after roughly mid-2024 forces a password change on first login. You need to set a new admin password and a new guest password before the dashboard loads. The new password must be at least 8 characters with one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one digit, and one special character.

I changed the password and now I cannot remember it. What do I do?

Factory reset the router. Hold the small pinhole reset button on the back of the Jio Home Gateway for 15 seconds while the unit is powered on. The LEDs cycle and the unit reboots with factory defaults. On the Wi-Fi 6 Gateway and post-2024 firmware, the restored password is the per-device value printed on the back label, not the original Jiocentrum string.

Can I use the JioHome app instead of the web panel?

Yes. The JioHome app on iOS and Android is the official fallback when the web password no longer works. Download JioHome, authenticate with your JioFiber-registered mobile number, and select your gateway from the linked devices list. The app handles Wi-Fi password changes, guest network setup, and connected device management. Port forwarding and advanced DHCP still require the web panel.

What is the difference between MyJio and JioHome?

MyJio is the consumer Jio account app: usage tracking, plan recharges, JioMart, JioCinema. JioHome is the router management app, dedicated to the Jio Centrum Home Gateway. The two used to overlap, with MyJio handling basic Wi-Fi changes, but Jio split them out so JioHome can carry the full admin surface. Install both: MyJio for billing, JioHome for the router.

Is Jiocentrum a router brand or a password?

Both, sort of. Jiocentrum Home Gateway is the model-line name Reliance gave to its in-house ONT-router. Jiocentrum is also the factory default web admin password used across early shipments, derived from the same model name. Reliance now ships unique per-device passwords on newer firmware to retire the default.
