Maxis Router Login

192.168.1.254

Maxis Home Fibre router login uses 192.168.1.254 on current WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 deployments. The full-access account is administrator with the device serial number (printed on the back label) as the password. The limited user account is user with the last 4 characters of the LAN MAC as the password. Older Technicolor and Thomson gateways shipped with MaxisBB and a label-printed password. Huawei HG8245H and HG8145V5 ONTs used on Split deployments expose 192.168.100.1 with admin / admin or label-printed credentials. Post-2024 Maxis routers force a password change at first login.

Maxis is the Malaysian mobile and fibre operator behind Maxis Postpaid, Hotlink prepaid, and Maxis Home Fibre. Maxis Berhad was incorporated in 2009 as the listed successor to Maxis Communications Berhad, with roots tracing back to Binariang Sendirian Berhad founded in 1986 by Ananda Krishnan. The company is headquartered at Menara Maxis in Kuala Lumpur City Centre and trades on Bursa Malaysia under MYX:6012.

The router shipped with Maxis Home Fibre is OEMed from Sagemcom, Huawei, and historically Technicolor and Thomson. Current WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 SKUs are Sagemcom-built with Maxis branding and a standardised admin UI at 192.168.1.254. Fibre is delivered over TM HSBB infrastructure on residential plans and over Maxis-owned fibre on enterprise circuits, so the BTU configuration follows TM’s GPON conventions on most consumer installs.

How to Login to Your Maxis Router

The login method depends on the router generation:

  • 192.168.1.254: Current WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 routers (Sagemcom, Huawei). Default account is administrator with the device serial number as the password.
  • 192.168.100.1: Huawei HG8245H and HG8145V5 ONTs on Split fibre installs. Default credentials are admin / admin or label-printed.
  • 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1: Legacy Technicolor and Thomson gateways from the 2010s. Default account is MaxisBB with a label-printed password.

Check the sticker on the back of the router for the exact gateway address, the serial number, and the LAN MAC. The serial number is the password for the administrator account on current units, so it is worth recording before mounting the router on a wall.

Maxis Home Fibre WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 Routers

The current Maxis Home Fibre routers are Sagemcom WiFi 6 (300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps tiers) and Sagemcom WiFi 7 (2 Gbps tier). Both ship with the same admin UI at http://192.168.1.254 and the same administrator account using the serial number as the password.

Plans range from RM129 per month (300 Mbps) to RM319 per month (2 Gbps). The router includes guest Wi-Fi, parental controls, and a built-in mesh controller for the Maxis Home WiFi mesh extender. Voice over IP (Maxis Home Voice) terminates on the router’s ATA on plans that bundle the landline product.

Sign in at http://192.168.1.254 with administrator and the serial number. The panel exposes SSID and Wi-Fi key edits, port forwarding rules, DHCP lease reservations, parental controls, firmware version, and a read-only view of the Maxis TR-069 provisioning state. For day-to-day changes the Maxis Home App on iOS and Android is faster, since it does not require unmounting the router to read the serial off the back label.

Maxis Huawei ONT (Split Fibre Installs)

On Split fibre installs Maxis ships a Huawei HG8245H or HG8145V5 ONT plus a separate WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 router downstream. The ONT terminates GPON and bridges Ethernet to the downstream router; the Wi-Fi is hung off the downstream unit.

The Huawei ONT engineering page is at http://192.168.100.1 with admin / admin on older firmware and admin with a label-printed password on units shipped after 2022. The downstream router still answers on 192.168.1.254 with the administrator account. Split installs are less common than Combo installs but still occur on circuits provisioned through enterprise channels or on older residential accounts.

Maxis 5G Home WiFi

Maxis 5G Home WiFi is the fixed wireless broadband product for areas without fibre coverage. The router is a Huawei 5G CPE (typically the H352-381 or H155-381) reachable at http://192.168.8.1 with admin / admin. Plans start at RM99 per month for unlimited 5G capped at 100 Mbps and RM139 per month for uncapped 5G speeds.

The CPE exposes Wi-Fi settings, SIM details, signal strength, and band selection in the admin panel. The Huawei AI Life app on iOS and Android also works for routine configuration. The 5G Home WiFi product is independent of Maxis Home Fibre and does not share infrastructure with the fixed broadband BTU stack.

Common Issues

Forgotten serial number. If you cannot find the serial number on the router’s back label, check the original packaging box or the Maxis Home App. The app surfaces device details including the serial under Devices > Router > About. If the box and the app both fail, call Maxis Care on 123 and they can read the serial from the TR-069 provisioning record.

Administrator login fails. Confirm you are typing the serial number exactly as it appears on the label (case sensitive on some firmware). If the password has been changed at first login, the original serial no longer works and you need a factory reset. Press the reset pinhole for 10 to 15 seconds.

Wrong IP. If 192.168.1.254 does not respond, you may be on a legacy Technicolor or Thomson unit (try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 with MaxisBB), or on a Split fibre install (try 192.168.100.1 for the Huawei ONT side). The sticker is authoritative.

Wi-Fi mesh node not connecting. The Maxis Home WiFi mesh extender pairs with the main router over WPS or via the Maxis Home App. If pairing fails, factory reset the extender (5 seconds on the back button) and re-pair through the app. The extender does not have its own admin page.

How Maxis Routers Compare to Other Malaysian ISPs

Maxis’s administrator plus serial number model is the cleanest of the major Malaysian ISPs. TM Unifi uses admin / telekom on older units and operator / h166 or tmadmin with a MAC-derived password on newer Huawei BTUs, which is harder for non-technical customers to find. Time Fibre installs typically ship Huawei BTUs on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1 with operator-specific credentials. Celcom and Digi historically did not offer fixed broadband, though CelcomDigi has been piloting 5G Home WiFi using ZTE CPEs on 192.168.0.1.

Maxis is also one of the few Malaysian ISPs that bundles the router cost into the monthly plan with no separate rental charge across all four Home Fibre tiers. Unifi follows the same pattern, while Time historically split out a one-off router charge on entry tiers.

Maxis Router FAQ

What is the default IP for a Maxis router?

Current Maxis Home Fibre WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 routers use 192.168.1.254. Huawei HG8245H and HG8145V5 ONTs deployed on Split fibre installs expose the engineering side at 192.168.100.1. Older Technicolor and Thomson gateways from the 2010s used 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. The sticker on the back of the router is authoritative. Maxis 5G Home WiFi (the fixed wireless product) ships a separate Huawei CPE on 192.168.8.1.

What is the default Maxis router password?

On current WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 routers the full-access account is administrator with the device serial number as the password. The serial number is printed on the back label and on the packaging box. The limited user account is user with the last 4 characters of the LAN MAC as the password. Older Technicolor and Thomson units used MaxisBB with a label-printed password. Post-2024 deployments force a password change at first login, so the factory defaults only apply to units that have been reset.

How do I login to my Maxis Home Fibre router?

Connect to the router over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.254. Enter administrator as the username and the device serial number as the password. The serial number is on the sticker on the back of the router. If the administrator account does not work, try user with the last 4 characters of the LAN MAC. Post-2024 firmware ships per-device passwords printed on the same label and forces a password change at first login.

Does Maxis manufacture their own routers?

No. Maxis Berhad is the operator. The hardware shipped with Maxis Home Fibre is OEMed from Sagemcom (current WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 SKUs), Huawei (HG8245H, HG8145V5 ONTs), and historically Technicolor and Thomson (legacy gateways). Maxis loads its own operator firmware on top with the standard administrator account and Maxis branded UI. Treat a Maxis router as the OEM unit it is built on, not as a separate hardware brand.

What router does Maxis 2 Gbps Home Fibre ship?

The 2 Gbps Maxis Home Fibre tier ships a premium WiFi 7 router (the Sagemcom WX8 or equivalent) capable of multi-gigabit LAN. Lower tiers (300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps) ship a WiFi 6 certified router from Sagemcom or Huawei. All Home Fibre plans include the router in the monthly RM89 to RM319 fee with no separate rental charge. The Maxis Home App on iOS and Android provides Wi-Fi password changes, device management, and parental controls without needing the web admin panel.

How do I reset my Maxis router to factory settings?

Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the router. Press and hold it with a paperclip or SIM-eject tool for 10 to 15 seconds until the LEDs blink and the unit reboots. Factory reset wipes any Wi-Fi password changes and port forwards but preserves the Maxis operator credentials provisioned over TR-069, so the router continues to authenticate against the Maxis network after the reset. If the router does not come back online within 10 minutes, call Maxis Care on 123.

Can I use the Maxis Home App instead of the web admin page?

Yes. The Maxis Home App on iOS and Android provides Wi-Fi SSID and password changes, device management, parental controls, guest network setup, and bandwidth monitoring without needing the 192.168.1.254 admin page. The app is the recommended channel for routine changes. Use the web admin panel for port forwarding, DHCP reservation, or any change the app does not surface. The app does not control the Huawei HG8245H ONT side on Split fibre installs.
