How to Login to Your Maxis Router

The login method depends on the router generation:

Maxis Home Fibre WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 Routers

The current Maxis Home Fibre routers are Sagemcom WiFi 6 (300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps tiers) and Sagemcom WiFi 7 (2 Gbps tier). Both ship with the same admin UI at http://192.168.1.254 and the same administrator account using the serial number as the password.

Plans range from RM129 per month (300 Mbps) to RM319 per month (2 Gbps). The router includes guest Wi-Fi, parental controls, and a built-in mesh controller for the Maxis Home WiFi mesh extender. Plans start at RM99 per month for unlimited 5G capped at 100 Mbps and RM139 per month for uncapped 5G speeds.

The CPE exposes Wi-Fi settings, SIM details, signal strength, and band selection in the admin panel. The Huawei AI Life app on iOS and Android also works for routine configuration. The 5G Home WiFi product is independent of Maxis Home Fibre and does not share infrastructure with the fixed broadband BTU stack.

Common Issues

Forgotten serial number. If you cannot find the serial number on the router’s back label, check the original packaging box or the Maxis Home App. The app surfaces device details including the serial under Devices > Router > About. If the box and the app both fail, call Maxis Care on 123 and they can read the serial from the TR-069 provisioning record.

Administrator login fails. Confirm you are typing the serial number exactly as it appears on the label (case sensitive on some firmware). If the password has been changed at first login, the original serial no longer works and you need a factory reset. Press the reset pinhole for 10 to 15 seconds.

Wrong IP. If 192.168.1.254 does not respond, you may be on a legacy Technicolor or Thomson unit (try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 with MaxisBB), or on a Split fibre install (try 192.168.100.1 for the Huawei ONT side). The sticker is authoritative.

Wi-Fi mesh node not connecting. The Maxis Home WiFi mesh extender pairs with the main router over WPS or via the Maxis Home App. If pairing fails, factory reset the extender (5 seconds on the back button) and re-pair through the app. The extender does not have its own admin page.

How Maxis Routers Compare to Other Malaysian ISPs

Maxis’s administrator plus serial number model is the cleanest of the major Malaysian ISPs. TM Unifi uses admin / telekom on older units and operator / h166 or tmadmin with a MAC-derived password on newer Huawei BTUs, which is harder for non-technical customers to find. Time Fibre installs typically ship Huawei BTUs on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1 with operator-specific credentials.
