Smart Bro Router Login
192.168.1.1
Smart Bro is the consumer wireless broadband brand under Smart Communications Inc., a subsidiary of PLDT Inc. It offers 4G and 5G Home WiFi and Pocket WiFi on prepaid and postpaid plans using Huawei and ZTE devices. Most Smart Bro Home WiFi units use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway and log in with smartbro as both the username and password.
How to Login to Your Smart Bro Router
Smart Bro Home WiFi devices use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway, and the Device Settings Dashboard logs in with smartbro as both the username and password. Connect to the Smart Bro WiFi network first, then open a browser and type the address. On PLDT Prepaid Home WiFi units the login is pldthome in both fields instead.
Smart Communications Inc. is a subsidiary of PLDT Inc., the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines. Smart Bro is its consumer wireless broadband brand, delivering 4G LTE and 5G internet through Home WiFi and Pocket WiFi devices on prepaid and postpaid plans. It sits among the Philippines ISP router login guides covered on HanoiLUG.
The dashboard runs over HTTPS, so the browser may flag the page as not secure. This is normal for a local device. Click through the warning to reach the login screen. On a first login the dashboard forces you to set a new admin password before you can change anything else, so have a strong password ready.
If the page does not load, check that your device joined the Smart Bro WiFi rather than staying on cellular data. Enter the address with the http:// prefix. The GigaLife app, Smart’s self-care app, also handles load, data balance, and promo registration, while the device dashboard covers WiFi settings and connected-device monitoring.
Smart Bro Router Models and Default Settings
The hardware comes mostly from Huawei and ZTE, branded with Smart Bro labels. The login differs by form factor: fixed Home WiFi units use the smartbro or pldthome dashboard login, while Pocket WiFi units keep their credentials on the device sticker.
| Router Model | Type | Default IP | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smart Bro Home WiFi (Huawei B312) | Fixed 4G | 192.168.1.1 | smartbro | smartbro |
| Smart Bro Prepaid LTE Home WiFi | Fixed 4G | 192.168.1.1 | pldthome | pldthome |
| Smart Bro Rocket WiFi (ZTE MF293N) | Fixed 4G | 192.168.1.1 | smartbro | smartbro |
| Smart Bro 5G Home WiFi (Huawei 5G CPE) | Fixed 5G | 192.168.1.1 | smartbro | smartbro |
| Evoluzn Smart Bro FX-PR2L | Fixed 4G | 192.168.1.1 | smartbro | smartbro |
| Smart Bro Pocket WiFi (Huawei E5577) | Portable 4G | 192.168.8.1 | admin | On label |
Pocket WiFi models use 192.168.8.1, the standard Huawei mobile-hotspot address, rather than 192.168.1.1. Every fixed Home WiFi device uses 192.168.1.1. If smartbro fails on a Home WiFi unit, try pldthome, since Smart sells the same hardware under both the Smart Bro and PLDT Prepaid Home WiFi brands.
Older Smart Bro devices that ran on 3G have been retired since Smart shut down its 3G network. If you still have one, ask Smart for a 4G or 5G replacement unit.
Changing Your Smart Bro WiFi Password
The default WiFi password on a Smart Bro device is printed on the label and is often a short string that neighbours can guess. Change it after setup.
Log in at 192.168.1.1 with smartbro/smartbro or pldthome/pldthome. On the Smart Bro Device Settings Dashboard, open the Change Name and Password tab. Type your new WiFi name in the network-name field and your new password in the password field. Smart requires at least 8 characters with at least three of these types: a number, an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, or a special character. Aim for 12 or more.
On the Huawei Pocket WiFi web interface the layout differs: open WLAN Basic Settings and edit the WPA Pre-Shared Key field. On ZTE-based units, go to WiFi and then WiFi Security Settings and change the Passphrase field.
Tap Save to commit the change. Every device on the network drops off at that moment and has to rejoin using the password you just set. Our WiFi password change guide covers more router brands step by step.
Prepaid vs Postpaid Plans
Smart Bro offers both prepaid and postpaid home WiFi options. The hardware is the same, but billing and data management differ.
Prepaid. Buy a Smart Bro Home WiFi device from any Smart store. Load credits through the GigaLife app, GCash, or retail load. Register to a data promo to start browsing. Popular promos include GIGA99 (2 GB for 7 days) and GIGA299 (8 GB for 30 days). When data runs out, the connection stops until you register again.
Postpaid. Apply through a Smart store or the Smart website. Plans bundle a monthly data allocation with a locked device. Postpaid offers higher data caps and unli data on select tiers.
Prepaid stays more popular because it needs no credit check, no monthly commitment, and no installation appointment.
Using a Smart Bro SIM in Your Own Router
A Smart Bro SIM works in any unlocked 4G or 5G router, since Smart Bro is wireless and carries no fibre line to authenticate. Slot the SIM into an unlocked LTE or 5G CPE, set the APN to internet, and the connection comes up once the device registers on the Smart network. No PPPoE username or password is involved.
Smart-branded units are usually locked and only accept a Smart SIM, so you cannot move that SIM into another brand and expect it to stay locked the other way. If you want a stronger antenna or external aerial for a weak LTE signal, an unlocked CPE such as a Huawei or ZTE outdoor unit often pulls a steadier signal than the stock indoor box. Set the same APN of internet and keep the SIM’s data promo active.
This own-router path is the wireless equivalent of the bridge-mode setups on fibre providers like PLDT Home Fibr and Globe At Home. The difference is that Smart Bro hands you a cellular connection, so the only setting that matters is the APN, not a VLAN tag or fibre handshake. If you are weighing Smart against Globe for home internet, our Smart vs Globe comparison covers coverage and pricing side by side.
Troubleshooting Smart Bro Issues
-
Dashboard does not load at 192.168.1.1. Your device may still be running on cellular data instead of the Smart Bro WiFi, so check the connection first. Enter the address with the
http://prefix, then click through the not-secure warning the browser shows for local devices. On a Pocket WiFi model the dashboard answers at 192.168.8.1 instead. Reset the device if nothing works. -
Login keeps failing. Home WiFi units default to smartbro/smartbro, and Prepaid Home WiFi units to pldthome/pldthome, so try the other pair if the first is rejected. To restore factory defaults, hold the reset button for 15 seconds. On a Pocket WiFi the reset button sits inside the SIM-card slot; on a Home WiFi it is the recessed RST button on the side. A reset wipes the SSID and password back to the label values.
-
No internet after the dashboard loads. Check your data balance in the GigaLife app or by dialing *123#. Prepaid users need an active data promo. If data remains, unplug the device for 30 seconds, then move it toward a window for a stronger LTE or 5G signal.
-
Slow speeds. Smart Bro throughput tracks the cellular signal, not a fixed line. Place the device on an upper floor near a window, away from thick walls and metal. Persistent slowness during evenings usually means the nearest cell tower is congested at peak hours rather than a device fault.
-
Cannot connect to the WiFi network. Log in at 192.168.1.1 and confirm the WiFi radio is enabled and broadcasting. After a reset the SSID reverts to the default printed on the label, so reconnect using that name and key before changing them again.
Test your Smart Bro connection
After logging into your router, run a speed test to confirm Smart Bro is delivering the throughput your plan promises. The widget below uses M-Lab's open NDT7 protocol — see the full speed test page for details on how the measurement works.
